Chesterfield Aquatic League Adopts Connor’s Heroes

Connor's Heroes is excited and proud to be the beneficiary of the Chesterfield Aquatic League's charitable effort for the next two years. Each of the 21 pools in the league will hold fundraisers, which we will support.

The first is "Quilt vs. Cancer." The Walton Lake Swim Team will be raffling off a quilt made and donated by a swim team parent. The raffle drawing will be held on July 30th and tickets are $5 each. The quilt and raffle tickets will be at all Walton Lake swim meets or you can find Truda Lee at the Huguenot Farmers Market by The Great Big Greenhouse on Thursdays.

Wrap yourself in comfort and know you helped find a cure for cancer.

Help us make a big difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families.

Creating Masterpieces with Childhood Cancer Heroes

This Sunday, April 3, from 1-4 at the Crossroads Art Center, we will have 12 childhood cancer heroes working 1 on 1 with a professional artist to create a piece of art that is meaningful to them. This art will then be part of a live auction at The Heroes Art Ball on May 13. Additionally, our Hero artists will work together on two dog statues provided by Fetch a Cure. We will present one statue to Fetch a Cure for their auction and one will be included at The Heroes Art Ball live auction. Our childhood cancer heroes will have the opportunity to make a difference for dogs with cancer too!

Connor's Heroes Foundation is celebrating its 5-year anniversary on May 13 with its first Gala event called, The Heroes Art Ball at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. It will be a magical night where will bring together childhood cancer heroes and the community who supports them. During the Ball, guests will be introduced in grand fashion to 17 childhood cancer Heroes who will share their cancer story and present their original piece of artwork, which they created while working with a professional artist. After a live auction of their art, guests will enjoy dinner and dancing with an amazing band.

The Heroes and their families will be invited to enjoy the Ball at no charge, to honor them during their childhood cancer journey.

Many thanks to Will Turner and Ryan Corrigan for organizing the creation of our masterpieces. Special thanks also to Crossroads Art Center, Arthaus Visual Arts Studio, and the many professional artists who are donating their time and talents.

Childhood Cancer 5K Walk a Huge Success!

Thanks to the efforts of Taylor Lynch, a senior at The Steward School, Connor's Heroes earned $4,000 at the Childhood Cancer 5K Walk at Deep Run Park. The skies were clear blue and the air unseasonable warm for a Saturday in February. Walkers and runners had a great time, especially knowing that their efforts were helping Connor's Heroes to provide support to children with cancer and their families. Special thanks to Amy Lacey of WRIC for her amazing support!

It's not too late to donate to the cause! Just visit this link to make a donation or to sponsor one of our walkers: https://atl.etapestry.com/fundraiser/ConnorsHeroes/DeepRun5k

Connor’s Heroes Hosts Parent’s Night Out

With the help of Kangaroo Jac's, Romp N Roll - West End, and Capital Ale House, Connor's Heroes hosted its first (but definitely not the last) Parent's Night Out.

Childhood cancer patients and survivors and their siblings had a blast jumping around while the unsung heroes of a childhood cancer journey, their parents, enjoyed a great dinner. For most of the parents, it was their first night out in a very long time.

We cannot thank those businesses enough for donating the entire night of food and fun to our families!! If your business would like to host our next Parent's Night Out, please contact us. We're already planning our next event.

Connor’s Heroes Day at Flying Squirrels Game

On Sunday, August 15, Connor's Heroes celebrated childhood cancer patients at the Richmond Flying Squirrels game. We gave out 2500 metal lunchboxes with the Connor's Heroes "Conquerors." Five childhood cancer HEROES had the opportunity to throw out a first pitch and one also got to sing "Take me out to the ballgame" for the crowd. Connor's Heroes families were treated to free tickets and "acorn bucks" to make it a great day for everyone.

Connor's Heroes is excited to continue its partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels with the First Annual Family Festival on Sunday, September 26.
