Mireya
Mireya was diagnosed in early 2011 (at age 4) with Severe Aplastic Anemia. A life threatening illness whose only cure is a bone marrow transplant. It has been a long road of transfusions, chemotherapy, hospitalizations and isolation. Our family is blessed to have two Super Heroes (a Super Hero Donor Brother) and our ‘Warrior Princess’, who has displayed an enormous amount of strength, poise and grace through it all. Mireya’s first bone marrow transplant subsequently failed, requiring she and her brother to undergo the process a second time. Mireya’s body has responded beautifully to the second transplant. She currently has about 4 more months in her active treatment. Mireya loves dance and all things ‘Princess’. Reya enjoys playing with her sisters and brother, drawing, painting, and designing outfits for her dolls. She is most excited about the ability to go to school and is looking forward to the day she can swim again and go to the beach.
