Katie
Katie (8 years old) was diagnosed with T-cell ALL in January 2015. Three days after Christmas, she relapsed. She had leukemic tumors on both of her optic nerves that could only be treated with a bone marrow transplant. Her match was her little sister, Ellie, just before her 2nd birthday. The family is living apart during her treatment. Her two brothers and father live in Norfolk where he is stationed. Katie and her mom are in Richmond during her treatment. Through it all, Katie is a cheerleader and best friend to her fellow hero patients. She can’t wait to be reunited with her family. She painted TOMS and other art for the Heroes Art Ball, usually at her hospital bed in the bone marrow transplant unit.
