8th Annual Music for Massey for Pediatric Cancer Research Endowment Fund
The 8th Annual Music for Massey concert with Bruce Hornsby and Railroad Earth was such a fantastic event and raised over $40,000 for our Pediatric Cancer Research Endowment Fund! Many thanks to those who donated $763 to our Bucket Brigade!
Superheroes & Sidekicks at the Flying Squirrels
We had a great group of 45 Superheroes at the Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game! Although it was a little steamy, the Squirrels won it in the 10th inning and then put on a fantastic fireworks display! We always love spending time with all of our amazing Superheroes and Sidekicks. Thanks for being our Heroes!
Parents’ Night Out
Parents of children with cancer are definitely unsung heroes. So glad we could spend some time celebrating some amazing Hero parents at the first of many "Parents Night Out" events we have scheduled. Many thanks to James and Aronne for the amazing Italian feast they prepared. We'll do it again in October -- can't wait!
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Prom
Connor's Heroes, Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation collaborated for the third year to transform the hospital cafeteria into a magical "Under the Sea" wonderland. We made sure that all of our patients had fancy attire and we treated them to hair and make-up, face painting, and crafts before they danced the night away with their friends and family.
Rocketts Red Glare
WOW!!! Rocketts Red Glare provided over $6700 to help Connor's Heroes provide much-needed support to children with cancer and their families. Many thanks to Rocketts Landing for allowing us to be part of such an amazing night! Thanks also to our amazing volunteers, including Kganya's Kause, everyone who came out and supported our Kid Zone and purchased beverages. You are all our HEROES!
The Heroes Art Ball: A Night in Gotham City
What a night! We cannot begin to adequately express our appreciation for everyone who helped make The Heroes Art Ball 2013 an incredible success! Thank you to our corporate sponsors, planning committee, volunteers, Hero families, guests and donors, and all of our silent auction and in-kind donors. Our 15 childhood cancer Heroes made us so proud as they stood up on stage and proudly held up the artistic masterpieces they created. Our amazing guests humbled all through their generous support of our Heroes' art. This was our third year holding The Heroes Art Ball and it was our most successful event yet!
Connor’s Heroes® at the Circus
Thanks to the amazing generosity of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® presents Built to Amaze!, Connor's Heroes® was able to invite 40 people to have an extra-special circus experience. Our 10 childhood cancer heroes and their families were invited to the arena floor on February 21, for an up-close and personal interaction with the performers, animals, and equipment of Built to Amaze! The special "Touch Tour" culminated with an up-close visit with Asia the Elephant and a viewing of her creating an artistic masterpiece. This painting, complete with signatures of the circus performers, will be available for auction at The Heroes Art Ball on Friday, May 3!
After our special tour, Connor's Heroes® treated our families to dinner and then we were provided with free tickets to attend the Built to Amaze! production.
What a wonderful experience for our families who are enduring such a difficult journey right now. It helped everyone remember how to smile and have fun!
