diggityFEST 2014 Sponsors Rock too!

diggityFEST is Central Virginia's first and only all-kids music festival. Year after year, readers of Style Weekly vote diggityFEST as Richmond's "Favorite Family Festival." It's easy to see why. Performing on the stage are many nationally recognized family music favorites including GRAMMY nominated, Justin Roberts & The Not Ready for Naptime Players. There's also a Kid's Zone, Daddio Patio and vendor fair. If your business is targeted to families, diggityFEST is your chance to introduce yourself to families from the area. Last year, over 3,5000 attended the event. diggityFEST offers many levels of sponsorships from $250 to $2000. Email allison@connorsheroes.org or call (804) 897-1272. Add your company's logo to the list of sponsors so far.

Let’s Put Pediatric Cancer On The Road

Virginia license plates are a great billboard in building awareness of many nonprofits and causes. So why not childhood cancer, the #1 disease killer of children? Two pediatric cancer nonprofits in Northern Virginia, Ellie's Hats and Team Mathias, are pushing for DMV to offer a license plate for childhood cancer. The process is simple. You complete the application and submit it with your check for $10. Ellie's Hats is collecting the applications and fees. Once they have 450 applications in hand, they will submit them to DMV. Then we wait...

Click the license plate below to open the PDF of the application along with detailed instructions. The sooner you submit your application and we reach our goal of 450 applications, the sooner we will see Childhood Cancer on cars in Virginia.

Yes, I want VA to have a Cure Childhood Cancer license plate!

CHF participating in new fundraising website for RVA!

Live To Serve is a new website dedicated to helping nonprofits raise money. It's a mix of Groupon and Kickstarter - two popular crowd funding sites that are transforming nonprofits and businesses. Connor's Heroes is one of six nonprofits asked to participate in the launch. Our campaign is simple: we need 25 Heroes Backpacks to stock for the rest of the year. Here's how you can help us raise the $2,500 to give backpacks to our hero patients.

Step 1: Go to www.LiveToServe.com
Step 1: Select Connor's Heroes
Step 2: Shop Vouchers For Local Merchants (Juleps, Segway of Richmond, for example)
Step 3: Watch Your Donation Contribute To Our $2,500 Goal

Live To Serve has vouchers for restaurants, services and activities ranging in price from $8 to $150. When you purchase your voucher 50 to 70% of its value is a direct donation to CHF. Take a moment to visit the website and purchase your gift certificate! Remember, your purchase benefits our hero patients.

Show You Care: Be a Sponsor of diggityFEST 2014

diggityFEST is Central Virginia's only, family-friendly music festival. It is repeatedly voted by Style Weekly's readers as their favorite Family Festival. Last year over 3,500 adults and children spent a beautiful afternoon dancing, jumping, and laughing to national and local performers. If your company targets families then consider being a corporate sponsor or vendor. You can have a table at our family exhibition fair, sponsor our family activities or be a food vendor. Most sponsorship levels receive significant media publicity and VIP tickets for you, your employees or clients. All children with be provided with a "passport" that will encourage them to visit your table so that they can collect a stamp and be eligible for great prizes.  Email lisa@connorsheroes.org or call (804) 897-1272 between 10 am and 3 pm. Details are at diggityFEST2014!

Meet CHF’s New Development Director, Allison Wixted

Allison found her passion in life when her daughter, Taylor, was born with Down syndrome in 2005. Although she began her career as a pharmacist, Taylor inspired her to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. Allison volunteered with the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond and later served on staff as their first Executive Director. She has also earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from VCU's Nonprofit Learning Point. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and their three children, nine-year-old twins, Landon and Taylor, and 7-year-old Karis.

You can reach Allison by email allison@connorsheroes.org or by calling our office between 10a-3p, (804) 897-1272

Supply Drives Stock CHF For The Summer!

We had a flurry of supply drives hosted by groups all over the area. Volunteer projects such as these are the equivalent of thousands of dollars in cash donations. You can organize your friends, neighbors, co-workers. Email erin@connorsheroes.org with your ideas. Take a look at how these groups helped children in Richmond!

Meet the Heroes of our 2014 Heroes Art Ball—Again

The 2014 Heroes Art Ball was an amazing night. The highlight was seeing our Heroes standing on the stage looking so beautiful and handsome as they proudly showed off the artwork they created with our talented professional artists. It's hard to realize these children are already cancer survivors. See how far they have come on their journeys.

Creating Memories At This Year’s Prom

Once again, Connor's Heroes, Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, and ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation sponsored a prom for all children and their families who are currently in treatment in Richmond. Just a few weeks after our Heroes Art Ball, the kids dress up again but in the theme of the party. This year, the cafeteria became a jungle! Children's faces were painted as their favorite jungle animals. We were impressed with the number of staff who came to the prom, sometimes after working long shifts in the hospital. Looking at these photos, you see the connection the staff have with these wonderful children and their families.
