Ava sees the best in people and makes sure they know it. She makes her nurses laugh, leads hospital rounds like a future doctor, and showers friends with heartfelt compliments. Ava’s wisdom and kindness always shines through.
When cancer tried to do its worst and Ava spent weeks in the hospital, mom and dad were grateful for the time Jillian, Connor’s Heroes Program Director, spent with Ava. Jillian was a trusted listener — kneeling by Ava’s hospital bed, giving her space to process the hard moments, and offering encouragement that stuck long after their conversations ended.
Ava graciously welcomed Jillian (her BFF) and Connor’s Heroes into her heart. What a wonderful thing! Through all the challenges, Ava remains Ava — curious, compassionate, and wise beyond her years.

I overheard Ava and Jillian having a very meaningful conversation one day in the hospital. Jillian allowed Ava to process the heavy things she was going through.
