BACK TO SCHOOL, BACK TO GIVING
Did you know that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month? Every year, 12,400 kids, from infants to teenagers, are diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer. That’s 12,400 kids who may not be riding the bus to school, meeting their new teacher, or enjoying after-school activities. For many kids diagnosed with cancer, going back to school may not be an option. September is just another month spent in a hospital instead of a classroom.
For the entire month, Connor’s Heroes will be holding a virtual fundraising drive for our Heroes who can’t go back to school. Our “Back to School, Back to Giving” fundraising drive benefits our Heroes Bags and Backpacks program. Our goal is to raise $3,750, which will supply backpacks to every child diagnosed with cancer in Central Virginia for the rest of 2012. You can help by donating directly to the cause (click here) or create your own fundraising page to get your family and friends involved. Please spread the word! E-mailing your friends or reposting this page and your fundraising page on Facebook and Twitter is a great way to get our community involved.
To show our appreciation to everyone helping us to reach our goal through personal fundraising pages, we have some fundraising incentives:
If you raise at least $50, you’ll receive a free Connor’s Heroes t-shirt
If you raise at least $100, you’ll receive a free Connor’s Heroes t-shirt and coffee mug
If you raise at least $250, in addition to the above, you or your child will be invited to join The Diggity Dudes onstage when they sing “Movin’ Mania” during the Second Annual DiggityFEST, scheduled for Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 1-4 pm at West Chester Commons Shopping Center
